                        1. Brief introduction of SHNU
                        Founded in 1954, Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) is a key local university with comprehensive disciplines covering humanities, social sciences, natural and applied sciences, and engineering. It has salient features of teacher training and particular strength in liberal arts, well geared to the economic and cultural development of the international metropolis of Shanghai.
                        The university has 84 undergraduate majors, offers doctorate degrees in 6 first-level disciplines and 42 second-level disciplines, runs 7 post-doctoral mobile stations and awards master degrees in 29 first-level disciplines and 154 second-level disciplines and bachelor degrees in 84 disciplines. 140,000 students have graduated from the university and served the society on different job positions.
                        Now SHNU boasts one University Key Research Base of Basic Liberal Arts Subjects of Humanities and Social Sciences, one national-level key discipline, one key research base for Humanities and Social Sciences funded by the Ministry of Education, two key laboratories of Shanghai Municipal Government and three E-research institutes in Shanghai tertiary educational institutions.
